Service Description

As textile artist, Sandra Haynes knows the emotional attachments people create with clothing and fabrics; the frayed blankie she wouldn't go to sleep without is now in a bottom dresser drawer, a slightly smelly concert t-shirt is in the back of his closet, or her grandma's tacky curtains are carefully stored in the attic. We keep these fabrics because of the stories and memories, but we don't know what to do with them because their usefulness has been exhausted. In this class you will learn how to recycle your fabric treasures into handmade books with reverence for the stories which made these fabrics into your personal treasure. Bookbinding Classes include: ~A overview of different book forms. ~How to match a book format to the story of the fabric. ~Textile embellishment options. ~Access to bookbinding tools and library. ~Studio access and one-on-one instruction by appointment. ~Basic materials and supplies.
